outfit makers at the Golden Globes, my current eBay rabbit hole, winter cozies, and moody interiors
The Group Chat is a monthly roundup of things on my radar — from fresh brand discoveries and emerging trends, to new beauty obsessions and home decor gems. Think of it as VIP access to my current hyper-fixations and niche finds that get sent to the group text.
Happy New Year, friends!
Awards season is here, my favorite cultural moment of Q1. This past weekend I saw Nosferatu and was completely floored — in a good way. I’m a sucker for period pieces and gothic lit, so naturally, I geeked out over the costume design, among many other brilliant elements (the cinematography, acting, sets, and makeup are all superb.)
Costume designer Linda Muir’s meticulous research is evident in every frame, from Lily-Rose Depp’s flower-adorned bonnets and ethereal nightgowns to Bill Skarsgård’s menacing fur coat worn like a cape. These precise style details make the film feel both visually captivating and unnervingly real. If you can handle some gore, don’t miss this one — though fair warning, it earns its chilling reputation.
On my list to (hopefully) see before the Oscars: Emilia Pérez, The Substance, Babygirl, and The Brutalist.
Outfit makers at the Golden Globes
The Globes red carpet delivered some fresh style and beauty details that immediately caught my eye.
Various shades of green seem to be having a moment: Seth Cohen Adam Brody and Blair Waldorf Leighton Meester served couple goals in coordinating green looks while Jeremy Strong rocked a velvet, seafoam green Loro Piana suit — with a matching bucket hat and sunnies — that screamed eldest boy à la Gumby.
Novelty ties/scarves were a thing: Ayo Edebiri’s custom Loewe look — a brilliant nod to Julia Roberts’ iconic 1990 Golden Globes suit — was next level, and of course Timothée Chalamet — who debuted Haider Ackermann’s Tom Ford on the red carpet — wore his skinny scarf à la Dylan.

Old Hollywood glam was alive and well too: Nicole Kidman and Margaret Qualley went full glam with bouncy high ponytails, while Zendaya and Selena Gomez channeled classic starlet energy with their curled bobs. I just snagged a pair of (leather) opera gloves so I was delighted to see them make their mark on Pam Anderson, Ariana Grande, Ali Wong, and Kerry Washington.
It was also refreshing to see vintage-inspired brooches on the lapels of some of Hollywood’s leading men. And statement chokers seem to be the neck accessory of choice for the night, which gave the looks an extra edge of glamour — toeing the line between ‘90s cool and Old Hollywood sophistication.
Vintage statement jewelry
The accessories at the Globes sent me straight down a vintage jewelry rabbit hole on eBay and Etsy.
also shared some incredible vintage gems on notes, which only fed my fixation. I had to snag this Juju Vera-esque necklace for myself.Pro tip for fellow treasure hunters: ‘Taxco vintage silver’ and ‘vintage Monet’ (bless you, Kelly!) are your golden ticket to the good stuff — like this chunky gold chain necklace, Heaven Mayhem-esque earrings in mixed metal and gold, this sterling silver link bracelet and matching vintage silver collar.
I love Ben-Amun for vintage-inspired statement pieces if you’re not into pre-loved jewelry. This silver nugget bracelet and gold nugget necklace remind me of my vintage Taxco finds.
Winter cozies
I’ve been hibernating in this J.Crew men’s cashmere hoodie (snagged it in a small under $150). I basically lived in my partner’s for weeks before admitting I needed my own. Speaking of J.Crew wins, this half-zip fleece has become my other winter MVP — perfect for coffee runs or channeling that après-ski vibe without the actual skiing.
Skincare check-in
I’ve been test-driving some gifted products over the past couple of months, and here are the ones that genuinely earned a spot in my permanent rotation (as in, I’ll actually spend my own money on them when they run out):
Monastery x Coppola Hideaways hydrating essence: As a Monastery fangirl, I knew I’d instantly love the spray Athena created with Sofia Coppola for the Coppola Hideaways Resort in Belize. It smells divine. I love using it first thing in the morning, after splashing my face with cold water, followed by a light moisturizer and SPF. On nights where I skip actives, I’ll just use the essence followed by Attar and call it a night.
Mother Science molecular hero serum: My skin rebels against every vitamin C serum, so this was a revelation. The star ingredient, Malassezin, claims to be 10x more powerful than vitamin C (research linked here), and my skin actually agrees — dark spots are fading, and I’m getting that coveted brightness without any breakouts. (Here’s a code for 15% off: LWSF15)
REMEDY body retinol: This no-frills body lotion is secretly an overachiever— targeting KP and crepey skin, moisturizes, and exfoliates all at once. Perfect for my mission to simplify, since one bottle does the work of a multi-step body care routine.
Stuff I just started testing that seems promising:
Iris & Romeo skin cocoon barrier glow serum: A cream to oil serum moisturizer that’s meant to replace a multi-step routine. The texture is light, silky, and just makes your skin glow instantly. It actually sits well under my SPF and tinted moisturizer (no pilling!), which is already a win in my book.
Vetted M1 light moisturizer: A new-to-me skincare line created by three powerhouse dermatologists from UCSF. Everything comes in these sleek glass bottles with minimal branding that gives off luxury derm office vibes. My skin gets moody with heavy moisturizers, so their M1 light moisturizer has been the perfect match. They sent their retinoid serum too — still in the queue to test but will report back! (update: they gave us a code: LWSF15)
Interiors with character
Lately, I’ve been craving spaces that actually ooze personality. You know what I mean — enough with the millennial grey everything, the all-white walls, the safe but soulless sad beige furniture. As we move into 2025, I’m ready for spaces that tell a story. Give me moody paint colors that create atmosphere, rich dark woods that bring warmth, and architectural details like crown molding and paneling that make a room feel intentional.
Speaking of which... I may be plotting my first-ever home project (who am I?). I’ve got my sights set on transforming our builder-grade powder room into something with actual character. Fair warning: I’ve never been a DIY person, so this should be interesting. But hey — if 2025 is about letting our personalities shine through in both our spaces and our wardrobes, maybe it’s also about trying new things? Stay tuned for what will either be a glow-up story or a cautionary tale.
Until next time,
Angela
