Outfit Diary: 2024's Greatest Hits
20 outfits that defined my year. And my style intentions for '25.
Every year leaves its own imprint—in sound, in taste, in texture. For me, 2024 was about trusting my instincts and surprising myself along the way. It marks my first year as a ‘creator’, putting myself and my creative vision out into the world. Those daily outfit selfies might have felt silly sometimes, but they captured moments when the mirror reflected exactly who I wanted to be—whether in a custom shirt with worn-in jeans, my perfect vintage leather jacket, or that impulse buy that became a wardrobe hero.
Like songs that transport you back in time, these outfits are timestamps of my year. Looking through twelve months of mirror selfies, certain looks still stop me in my tracks—the ones that made me feel most like myself, turning ordinary days into core memories.
Here’s a look back at the style moments worth remembering.
Heads up: this one’s a longer read—best enjoyed in app.
Favorite trend: The sheer skirt
I’ve always gravitated toward statement pieces. Whether it’s a bold jacket, a fun skirt, or quirky shoes—these eye-catching items just feel like me. So when sheer skirts became the trend this year, I naturally jumped right in. And I’ll keep wearing them as long as they feel true to my style.
Sometimes a last-minute wardrobe pivot leads to magic. I originally planned to wear this Theory dress to a wedding in Mexico City, but ended up styling it as a skirt instead. The result? My ideal look for an unforgettable dinner at Pujol. Here’s a gentle reminder that those spontaneous style risks often turn out better than planned.
This Siedres skirt was my most-coveted piece of the year. From its January debut in a Moda Operandi trunkshow to its major August markdown, I tracked this skirt’s every move. You can guess what happened next.
I debuted it at the Agmes FW press preview, where I finally met
and IRL after months of being internet friends. Their genuine compliments meant everything—it hits different when it comes from women whose style you’ve always admired.Another Siedres gem I found on major sale. Yes, I already owned a pink sequin mini, but this one was different—a sheer, paillette skirt with delicate lace trim?? I couldn’t resist grabbing the last piece, even a size up. Paired it with my go-to Jil Sander mules and Soldout NYC shirt for a Broadway show here in SF.
Favorite looks by quarter
Q1
This look from a January dinner party deserves a repeat. The top is a rare Zara find, paired with my favorite low-slung baggy Madewell jeans and those trusty Jil Sander mules that elevate every outfit. Someone on TikTok said the shoes remind them of Perry the Platypus—and honestly, I’m here for it.
My cold-weather styling philosophy is simple but effective: the coat is the outfit. Sometimes I just can’t fuss with all the layers so I let my jackets and coats do the heavy lifting. These two outfits from last winter show why this approach hasn’t failed me yet.
I tend to wear a lot of neutrals and basics, but I’ve never considered my style ‘minimal’ or ‘effortless.’ I’m perfectly fine being the person who looks like they made an effort—especially for date night or a nice dinner. Though at any given San Francisco fancy restaurant, you’ll spot everything from tuxes to hoodies. Maybe that’s just peak SF for you.
Q2
A look I’ll always remember—my first brand event in April for Freda Salvador and Vintner’s Daughter. Meeting Clare and Jessi, who went from internet friends to real friends, made the day even more special. My old trench coat was a hit too.
One of my best vintage finds of the year: a men’s leather jacket from eBay.
taught me that the best leather jackets are pre-loved. Nothing special happened that day—I just felt incredibly good in this look. That first warm spring day in the Bay Area when everything feels possible again. Oysters for lunch, then a spontaneous drive up to Sonoma for wine tasting—exactly the kind of day this outfit was made for.
Q3
My version of a ‘brat summer’ look on Cape Cod—reuniting my favorite Donni top from last season with these silk shorts scored at the hand-me-Doen sale. A combo I’ll definitely be bringing back next summer.
Another Cape summer favorite: last season’s Doen gingham dress making a much-anticipated comeback. The quintessential prep vibes still feel completely like me, especially paired with this Jenni Kayne cotton cardigan—an impulse buy that became my go-to summer layer.
I had a vision for this look, and it delivered. Bopping around Manhattan during fashion week with Madeline (another internet gem turned real-life friend), collecting nods from the New York fashion crowd. One of those outfits that makes you feel exactly as cool as you hoped—a memory I’ll always keep.
Q4
I’ll always remember that day in Mexico City when I finally picked up my custom Chava shirt. Perfectly oversized, luxurious cotton twill, mother-of-pearl buttons—I couldn’t resist wearing it straight out of the studio. It not only became the star of that trip’s wardrobe but remains a hero piece in my everyday rotation.
Since I skipped the Theory dress for the wedding in CDMX, I ended up rewearing last holiday’s lace Doen dress with a vintage men’s Ralph Lauren tuxedo jacket. This might be the most authentically ‘me’ wedding look I’ve ever worn.
Boxing Day look out east, proving once again: the coat is the outfit.
Favorite PR (gifted) pieces
Out of all the PR pieces I received this year, these are the ones that easily stood out. They’ve become real staples in my wardrobe that I’d happily buy them myself.
These Frame capris pushed me out of my comfort zone and proved me wrong. From (major) initial skepticism to spring/summer wardrobe hero—sometimes the best pieces are the ones you least expect.
Partnering with Dorsey was a true pinch-me moment this year. Already owning and loving their pieces made this collaboration feel perfectly natural. There’s something special about working with brands you genuinely admire. These studs and riviere necklace (18-in) have since become my everyday favorites.
Another happy discovery this year: Parker Thatch, the women-led brand that’s captured Bay Area hearts. Their Lee suede clutch quickly became my go-to for those days when a full purse feels like too much.
My 2025 Style Intentions
Looking ahead, my style intentions are clear: trust my instincts about what works, even when it might seem unexpected. Focus on creating moments rather than collecting pieces, being more intentional about new additions. And push those style boundaries just enough—because that’s where the most memorable looks often come from.
It’s less about rules, more about staying true to what feels right while leaving room for surprises. These are simple goals, but they’ve never steered me wrong: create more, consume less, and always trust that inner voice that knows when something’s exactly right.
Cheers to 2025!
